Akure— A 16-year-old girl (names withheld) is allegedly carrying a seven-month-old pregnancy for her 56 years old father, Prophet Taiwo Oluboyode, in Odode, Idanre area of Ondo State.
Vanguard gathered that the suspect, who owns a white garment church and currently in police custody, allegedly informed his interrogators that he was tempted by the devil to commit the act.
Prophet Taiwo Oluboyode
However, people in the agrarian community, who spoke with Vanguard, are of the opinion that the cleric must have carried out the act “to renew his spiritual power.”
Findings in the town showed that the cleric is popular and his church, located at Oke-Ijebu Street, Odode, Idanre, always records high traffic of miracle-seeking worshippers from far and near on a regular basis.
Sources close to the church revealed that the prophet is a specialist in bathing women in streams to ward off evil spirits and those tormented by spiritual husbands, who prevent them from getting married or having babies.
Reports had it that the prophet lives alone with her daughter after the wife left him years back.
It was learned that efforts by the estranged wife to take her daughter along with her were rebuffed by the suspect, who insisted he needed her around to run errands and take care of him in the interim.
A family source hinted that the suspect had refused to remarry after the wife left and had preferred sleeping with his daughter instead.
It was unclear if the victim raised any alarm over her defilement by her father, but neighbours said that the girl was always keeping to herself.
Vanguard learned that the victim stopped going to school when signs that she is pregnant was becoming evident. Her school mates, who came to the house to ask after her, were informed by the father that she had travelled to Lagos to continue her studies.
It was gathered from police source that when the victim took in and informed the suspect, he allegedly gave her some concoctions to terminate the pregnancy. The attempt, it was learned, failed.
The suspect, according to a source, contemplated smuggling the victim out of the house to a private clinic, but she refused and threatened to raise alarm.
The suspect then instructed the victim to stay indoors to avoid suspicion from church members and their neighbours.
It was revealed that one of the neighbours, who saw the girl with a protruding stomach, raised the alarm. Police laid ambush and arrested the suspect when he returned home.
Detectives informed Vanguard that the only words uttered by the suspect was “it was temptation and the work of the devil.”
The church is presently under lock and key, ýwhile other leaders and members of the church have gone underground for fear of arrest.
Police spokesperson, Femi Joseph, promised to get the details from the DPO in Idanre, but had not done so at press time.
However, police detectives at Ala Police Station in Akure, confirmed that the cleric had been arrested and would soon be prosecuted.

The Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, has bemoaned refusal by high-profile public officers to surrender to assets verification exercise. It decried that though most of the public officers duly declared their assets as required by law, they however shy away from the second step which involves verification of such declared assets The Bureau made the disclosure while debunking a media report in which its Chairman, Mr. Sam Saba, who was quoted as ordering some Ministers, Governors, Service Chiefs and top government officials to declare their assets. In a statement by the Head of Press Unit at the CCB, Mr. Mohammed Idris, the Bureau, maintained that no order was issued against the afore mentioned category of public officials.
Akwangwa – Rev. Father Gabriel Ngbe of Akwangwa Catholic Church, in
Nasarawa State, on Sunday canvassed the need for Catholic Church to
incorporate some good aspects of African culture in its Doctrine and
that monogamy should be accepted in the Church because of those that
have only one wife.
The Catholic Priest made this known while celebrating Acculturation Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Akwanga.
Ngbe insisted that the Catholic doctrine most be amended, especially
in the African Catholic Churches in order to accommodate every member of
the Church.
“The Whiteman that brought Christianity to us mixed the religion with
his culture and Africans just accepted it like that at the expense of
our culture.
“If we did not incorporate parts of our culture into the way we
worship God, our culture would in no distant time go into extinction,”
he said. Lovers
Ngbe explained that local foods should henceforth be used for
communion in the Catholic Church instead of using products imported from
Europe.
The priest also said meaningful local names should be given to people
during Baptism and Confirmation in Catholic Churches as against using
“English names.”
Ngbe urged members to imbibe the habit of wearing local dresses during weddings as well as using local languages for Mass.
He said that anybody who practiced monogamy before accepting Christ
should be given equal treatment in the Church with those that have only
one wife.
“It is better to have many wives at home than to have only one and
yet have many girl friends and lovers outside,” the priest said.
Ngbe therefore commended the Yoruba people for incorporating their
culture in the way they practiced both Christianity and Islam and urged
others to emulate them.
Open Letter from Sergey Mavrodi to the Nigerian Authorities
Honorable authorities,
So far MMM has come under a constant attack from you. In this regard,
I would like to ask you a few simple questions. Since you are concerned
with the interests of millions of your fellow citizens, I hope that
you would be so kind to answer them.
1. What are you trying to get? Do you want the MMM System to collapse
and millions of people to suffer? Who will support them then if now MMM
is their only means of livelihood? Will you? You even don’t pay wages
to people? Or might you not care about them? Might you be using a trendy
topic to make a good name for yourselves? What will you say to a mother
who will have no money to buy food for her child? Will you let her
child die for the sake of the higher interests of the economy?
2. You say that MMM is a scam. What is the scam here, if all members
are warned in advance about all the risks, the possible and impossible
ones? They know there are no investments at all. The warning is a red
text on a yellow background placed on most prominent place of the
website.
3. You say that MMM is bad. Why? Yes, it produces nothing, but
nothing gets out of the country either. The money is just redistributed
among the citizens of Nigeria. It gets from those who are richer to
poorer ones, in this way restoring social justice. What''s wrong with
that?
4. You have repeatedly stated that "it should be investigated!..
researched!.." It means you know nothing about this System yet; you even
haven’t understood how it works. Isn’t it completely irresponsible of
you to make all these allegations and play with the lives of millions of
ordinary people?
5. And finally. If you know what is right for people, why is the life so bad in the country?
Sincerely yours,
Sergey Mavrodi
P.S. As for your statement that "everything will collapse soon". The
system has been working in Nigeria for a year, and according to your
estimates, the total number of members now is about 3 million people.
In Nigeria the population is approximately 195 million. Can you
calculate? Will it be “soon"? :-))

It quite unbelievable especially in this state of recession that a bag of rice would be sold for anything less than N25,000 but the Lagos State governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has promised to provide rice to Lagosians at N13,500 per bag in the coming weeks which he disclosed at the 2016 Agricultural Summit of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This is possible because of the contract he entered into with the Kebbi state government. Thus, xmas is going to come cheap for Lagosians this year!!!
The Super Falcons have yet to receive allowances and bonuses for
winning the Women's Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday 3 December.
The Super Falcons clinched their eighth African title with a 1-0 win over hosts Cameroon and are unhappy that the Nigeria Football Federation has failed to pay them US$17,150 per player for their success.
It
is alleged the NFF had also pledged to pay outstanding allowances for
qualifying and their win bonuses [US$6,500] before the start of the
competition.
On Friday, Nigeria and Arsenal forward Asisat Oshoala
told BBC Sport: "This is a fight about the welfare of the team. It's
about the way the team has been handled over the years.
"We are
champions. We went out to fight for the nation even without being paid -
not everything is about money but of course it is an issue.
"We
went to the tournament to play for our country and we won the trophy -
it is our job and we make no excuses but are not made to feel like
champions.
"We don't feel like the Super Falcons of Nigeria, we
don't have a feeling of seniority - we are being treated like we are
age-group players, like the Under-17s and the Under-20s."
A South African cleric, Prophet Rufus Phala has made his church members drink disinfectant, Dettol, in order to get healed..
Phala, a pastor with AK Spiritual Christian Church, Makgodu, Limpopo in the north eastern area of South Africa, instructed his followers to drink the disinfectant, while also acknowledging that it was dangerous to do so.
“I know Dettol is harmful, but God instructed me to use it. I was the first one to drink it,” the pastor said in a video sighted by South Africa’s Daily Sun.
He also claimed he has been getting WhatsApp messages from people who say they have been healed by obeying his command of drinking the disinfectant.
Dettolis the trade name for a line of hygiene products manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser. While the liquid antiseptic may be harmless when mixed with bath water or when cleaning a wound it is known to be dangerous for internal use.
According to“Dettol poisoning and the need for airway intervention”, an article published in the Hong Kong Medical Journal, Dettol poisoning has been reported to result in serious complications including death.
Phala’s case is coming only few weeks after one Prophet Lethebo Rabalago sprayed his congregation with Doom, a popular brand of insecticide in the country.
In 2014, Pastor Lesego Daniel of Rabboni Centre Ministries, Garankuwa, north of Pretoria was also reported to have commanded his followers to eat grass in order to get closer to God.Excerpt from Punch

“The most terrible thing was not that he had cheated me, but that he had lost his innocence,” she said.
She became consumed with what she describes as “a profound need to make a difference to the people of Nigeria”.
Ms Grette’s relationship with Johnny (not his real name) began after an evening of fun and games with her girlfriends, during which they playfully created a profile for her on an online dating website. A few years before, she had gone through a traumatic divorce, and her friends teased her about finally starting a new relationship.
But when the fun of creating her profile was over, Ms Grette, who works as an arts teacher, painter and arts therapist, didn’t give much further thought to the website.
“I received messages telling me that people had contacted me, but I never looked at them,” she said.
Then, one day, she did.
“I still don’t know why,” she said. “It was like a sudden impulse happening before I could stop it.”
That particular message was from a man who described himself as a Dane raised in South Carolina, USA; a civil engineer working on a contract in England; a widower with a son in a Manchester university.
“I was caught up by the atmosphere and by something in his words,” she said.
Johnny: “I wish I could see through your eyes and see what you like to see”
Maria: “I like to see the truth, and often the truth is more beautiful and greater than people dare to realize”
Johnny: “You talk in parable´s. I can´t wait to see you”
Maria: “I can’t understand how you can think so dedicated of me, when you have never met me. That scares me.”
“We spent some time writing, then he called from a UK number.”
Ms Grette, who had lived in different countries across Europe, was surprised that she could not place the man’s accent. She mentioned this to him but didn’t give it too much thought.
He told her that he was planning for his retirement; had Sweden in mind for a place to settle; owned a house in Denmark inherited from his parents; wanted to leave that to his son, Nick, who was very attached to it, while he looked for a new home for himself in Sweden.
“I wanted to meet him because I liked him,” she said. “He had a way and a sweetness I had never known in a man before. And he was innocent in a way that puzzled me.”
Ms Grette put all these qualities down to “an old fashioned upbringing and an isolated life – living in hotels and spending his free time on golf courses owing to much travelling”.
After three months of communicating, the man agreed to come over and visit her in Sweden. But before that, he and his son needed to make a quick trip to Nigeria for a job interview, he said.
Johnny called to let her know that he was at Heathrow Airport. And to say that he had landed in Nigeria. He also got her to speak with Nick. The next phone call was to tell her that he was in a Lagos hospital.
They had been mugged, his son shot in the head, and they were without money and papers.
Unfortunately, his bank did not have a branch in Africa, he added, so it would take time to transfer money from his UK account. Meanwhile, the hospital management was requesting €1000 to proceed with treatment.
The request
“Honey, I am in the hospital right now using the doctor´s laptop to send you this message so you can know my situation. Honey, if Nick dies I will also die with him, I have been crying, I wish I could call you, I wish I never came here, I will never forgive myself for bringing Nick along with me. I will call you with the doctor´s phone and send you an email later if I have the chanse.
“Honey, I am happy to hear from you and I am still at the hospital. The doctor said we where lucky we where not kidnapped. The bank does not have a location in Africa, so it will take time to get money and the management are requesting 1000 euros to proceed with treatment. Nick is all I have got and I will not forgive myself if anything happens to him. I am confused, and I do not know where to turn at the moment……”

One of the senior lawyers being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC, for allegedly bribing judges, Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN, has said that he gave the sum of N450.000 as a gift to Justice James Agbadu-Fishim, noting that the money which was given in two installments was a gift.
Disclosing this to Vanguard, an EFCC source, who was privy to the statement the lawyer made to the commission, said the funds were paid into the judge’s account when he was traveling for a long vacation in August 2014 and during the burial of a relative of the latter in 2015.
The accused, who was said to have been questioned by the commission on October 27, 2016, further informed the commission that he had never appeared before the judge, who is of the National Industrial Court, NIC.
In addition, the source quoted Usoro to have told the commission that he knew Justice Agbadu-Fishim well before he was elevated to the Bench when he was in the telecommunications subsector.
Continuing, Usoro was said to have claimed in the statement that apart from Agbadu-Fishim and Justice Kanyip J, he had no relationship with any NIC judge.
On Justice Kanyip, the source said, Usoro claimed to have known him when the latter called to correct him on statements made in a presentation on NIC, some years back to Judges of the Federal High Court.
The source, however, said Usoro in his statement said his law firm had 32 pending and eight concluded matters before the NIC, adding that he does not personally supervise any of the NIC matters being handled by his firm.

Electricity distribution companies across the country have threatened a totalshutdown of operations if electricity tariff are not increased from N22.8kilowatts per hour to N105 Kilowats per hour in accordance with their submitted proposal.
Even though the Ministry of Power has clearly stated that such an increase is outrageous especially after the 45% icrement that took place less than 8 months ago, there is every indication that The Minister,Babatunde Fashola might be forced to increase electricity tariffs by 20 per cent.
Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi Central, is a man of means and style. As controversial as many may think he is, he is a man with a good heart and does whatever he does with a passion that belies his implacable exterior.
Bestest Abaya & Dino Melaye
As a big fish that swims only in big ponds, one would expect wherever he hangs out, he should hang with the power brokers of the country, but not on Instagram. Instead of following his fellow senators, governors, ministers, or even the president or his vice, the Kogi Senator as at Friday, October 21, 2016 was following only one person – a woman.
The woman, which by all indication is from the northern part of the country, calls herself Bestest Abaya and she runs a luxury shop at Omega Centre, not sure if it is in Lagos or Abuja. The woman attends only to the high and mighty. We all know how finicky the Senator is, about how he looks, this could explain why the only person he cares to follow on Instagram is a fashion stylist.

Three men were on Thursday paraded by the Abia State Police Command for alleged sexually abused a 12-year-old girl.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Leye Oyebade, who paraded the suspects in Umuahia, said that the command would not relent in its resolve to rid the state of criminals.
He explained that the three men were arrested in Amuvi village in Arochukwu Local Government Area on October 8 for defiling a 12-year-old girl.
The commissioner said that the suspects took turns to sexually abuse the victim, adding that the suspects were arrested following an alarm by her guardian.
One of the suspects, Uche Nwaokoro, admitted that he committed the crime and said that it was the devil that made him do it.
Nwokoro said that he used to lure the victim to his house with gifts and that he regretted his actions.
Speaking with newsmen, the victim’s guardian said, “the suspects encouraged my sister to be disobedient and always runaway from the house whenever she is scolded for misbehaving.
“This has been the practice until she went missing for two days recently and upon investigation it was discovered that these men have been sexually abusing my sister.”
Stanbic IBTC Bank has called on parents to take advantage of its bouquet of educational products and payment solutions that will help them offset the financial burden of school fees, as new academic session begins.
The bank said parents can readily meet their short-term financial obligations to educate their children without stretching their finances.
According to the bank, its school fees facility includes the Salary Advance for salaried workers, which offers very friendly interest rate and payment cards that parents can easily access and use to pay school fees.

Nollywood actress and singer, Cossy Orjiakor has many talents. She can act, she can sing, she can model and do virtually everything when it comes to entertainment. As talented as she is, nothing has brought her more fame than her signature humongous boobs which make other boobs around her look infantile. As the queen of boobs in Nigeria, Cossy reigns supreme but not without challenges from some other quarters.
Days ago the ‘Nutty Queen’ crooner had a visitor on her birthday. Guess who? It was a girl trending on Instagram as the curviest Nigerian girl with boobs that knock off Cossy. Her name is Roman Goddess, and according to Cossy herself, she’s highly endowed both in the front and in the back.
“She’s a super sexy curvy chick,” says Cossy. “She carry front, she carry back. She is too packaged. I must examine and evaluate this super sexy curvy chic. She’s a good fan that has turned a friend” she said.
Obviously, Cossy isn’t sure if the girl’s assets are real or not, that must have prompted her to say “I must evaluate her.” This, made
Potpourri, ask her the golden question: Is it true that big boobs don’t stand unless they are fake?
“Stand? Boobs without volume, both big and small ones look terrible and they are assumed to fall, but when boobs are full and voluminous it is assumed to be standing. Check my Instagram page and see the picture dedicated to that footballer. My boobs were so full and firm. So, it doesn’t have to be fake to stand,” she answered.
So, your own stand and they are not fake? I queried.
“Stop talking and come and touch,” she snapped back.
In this era of packaging, women are constantly taking men for a ride in the way they present their gifts of life, or put more bluntly, their endowments.
This is a world where you can get whatever you want. Gone are the days women worry themselves over not having what others have. If you have got a small butt, you can make it big, very big. Even if your boobs are small, you can get bigger ones. All comes at a price. It thus becomes confusing to know what is real or not.
This is probably what was on the mind of a Black-American wannabe celebrity who said women who have very big boobs that stand must have tampered with nature.
The endowed diva, Maserati, who has been severally questioned over the way she exposes her boobs, posted on Instagram that women who have big boobs that stand must have done some treatment on the boobs like Cossy. “ Big boobs just don’t stand unless they are fake,” she asserted in the post. Or what do you think?

Prof. Musa Yakubu of University of Ilorin has said that having sex in the early morning lowers blood pressure and reduces risks of heart attack.
Yakubu of the Department of Biochemistry made the assertion in a paper, “Knocking Down the Barriers to Four O’Clock Activities and Reproductive Inadequacies”, presented at the 163rd Inaugural lecture of the university on Friday.
He said that having sexual intercourse, three to four times a week, was good for love life.
“Research has shown that sex boosts immune system by stimulating the body’s first line of defence and production of immunoglobulin A (IgA), against cold and fever,” he said.
immunoglobulin A is one of the most common antibodies in the body system.
Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight bacteria, viruses, and toxins.
Yakubu said that sex also regulates menstruation in women by influencing the levels of lutenizing hormones that controls menstrual period and promote better sleep.
According to him, the act of sexual intercourse also release the feel-good chemical, known as oxytocin, which enhances closeness with one’s partner and makes people feel happier for a longer period of time.
“Lovemaking of about 20 minutes reduces 150 calories,” he said.
The professor of Biochemistry postulated that sex is the most powerful creative force given to human by God for pleasure and deep companionship.
Yakubu, however, noted that any marriage in which the man or woman could not enjoy sexual intercourse or satisfy their partner in bed was a dead marriage.
He said that lack of sexual satisfaction had led to the collapse of many marriages in Nigeria, and urged couples to seek for solutions to the problem.
“Sexual and reproductive dysfunctions are common among men and women in Nigeria, which necessitates regular screening and check-ups,” he said.
He also said that traditional medicines had been authenticated to cure sexual dysfunctions.

Let me tell you a story. I am a product of God's Grace. I was the Games Prefect at my elementary school, I was the Senior Prefect of the secondary school I attended. I started modelling at 13. I started business at 14. At 17 I made my first million. At 19, I built my first house. At 24, i already have OND, a diploma and a degree. At 25,I ran a presidential campaign for one of the greatest men Nigeria is blessed with, Mallam Shekarau. At 26, I opened a fashion emporium in my home town which cost me over 20 million naira then.
But guess what, at 27 years old I had lost almost all.
This was the period I knew people for what they are. God used this period to prepare me for a better tomorrow. Instead of sulking, I looked inward and found a renewed strength within me. I sold my car, started all over but this time, quietly. I found a new calling. To live my live for people who are truly in need and have nothing to even give you in return but a most sincere prayer to God almighty. To the glory of God today, I am the CEO of four resourseful companies with interest in Importation, Oil and Gas, Integrated services and Farming. Guess what? I'm yet to begin! Whatever your disappointment, see it as an opportunity. Never be scared to begin again. Everyday is always a new day!!! Before you envy my success, learn my pain! #funkeadesiyan #ibadan #silentbusinessmogul

Eric Aniva, a Malawian in his forties, is what’s known as a ‘hyena’ – a man paid to have sex with young girls as a form of ritual cleansing.
Sexual cleansing involving ‘hyenas’ is common practice in southern Malawi- and women are required to participate in it at various points in their life, including if their husband has died or if they have an abortion.
Shockingly, young girls are sent to ‘initiation camps’ by their families before puberty, where they are taught how to have sex. Then, they are forced to have sex over three days after their first period to “to avoid infection with their parents or the rest of the community”.
And there is no thought given to health concerns – as tradition dictates that condoms are prohibited, and it’s believed that the ‘hyenas’ are disease-free due to their good morals.
As a result, the practice puts young girls at risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV, which is carried by one in 10 people in Malawi.
In an interview with the BBC, Eric, from Nsanje, a district in southern Malawi, explained that he has slept with over 100 girls and women after becoming a ‘hyena in 1995’ – and has five children that he knows about.
He said: “Most of those I have slept with are girls, school-going girls.
jailed
“Some girls are just 12 or 13 years old, but I prefer them older. All these girls find pleasure in having me as their hyena. They actually are proud and tell other people that this man is a real man, he knows how to please a woman.”
Appallingly, even though he claims he carries out fewer cleansing rituals than in the past, Eric admits he is HIV-positive – but he keeps that to himself when families approach him for his services.
And although government officials are against the practice, there is no official policy to protect young girls in the region. Dr May Shaba, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Gender and Welfare, explained: “We are not going to condemn these people. But we are going to give them information that they need to change their rituals.”
Meanwhile, Chrissie, a community elder who arranges the initiation camps, told the BBC: “There’s nothing wrong with our culture. “If you look at today’s society, you can see that girls are not responsible, so we have to train our girls in a good manner in the village, so that they don’t go astray, are good wives so that the husband is satisfied, and so that nothing bad happens to their families.”
However, not all women feel the same. Fanny, one of Eric’s two wives, explained that she hates the practice, and she is scared her two-year-old daughter will have to endure it in 10 years’ time.
She told the BBC: “I don’t want that to happen. I want this tradition to end. We are forced to sleep with the hyenas.

Detained former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, on Wednesday stunned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission with a fresh revelation that he gave former Osun State Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, the sum of N1.7 billion out of the N4.7 billion he got from embattled former National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
The EFCC had earlier raided Obanikoro’s Lagos home and carted away vital documents relating to the said fund transfer.
A top source in EFCC said that Obanikoro did not, however, say what the money he allegedly gave Omisore was meant for and why he was the courier.
The source said: “The former minister, Obanikoro, has been cooperating very well with our operatives by giving detailed information regarding the N4.7 billion traced to him and companies linked to his sons.
“Obanikoro has confirmed that he actually transferred the sum of N1.7 billion from the NSA’s Office to Senator Iyiola Omisore but did not say why he did so and what the money was meant for.
“Obanikoro said out of N4.685 billon transferred to Sylva McNamara Limited, the sum of N3.880 billion was transferred to both Ayodele Fayose and Senator Omisore through cash and bank transfers.”
The official further quoted Obanikoro as having said: “The dollar contents were handed over to Fayose personally by me in the presence of some party leaders and he collected it and took it to the room next to where we were all seated.
“The location where I gave the dollars to him is called Spotless Hotel, Ado-Ekiti.
“One of the party leaders that was present was Dr. Tope Aluko, who was then the Secretary of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
“I transferred N1.7 billion to Omisore.
He told interrogators that he handed Fayose $5,377,000 in cash and N1.3 billion was received by the governor’s associate, Abiodun Agbele.
Obanikoro admitted that the N1.3 billion was flown to Akure airport in two chartered flights for delivery to Agbele.
The money was sourced from the $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase at the ONSA.
According to a report by the EFCC, the funds were transferred to various companies as follows: Fimex Gilt Limited (N160m)-8/8/2014 in UBA; Metropolitan Consortium (N350m)- 9/7/14 in First Bank; Sawanara (N300m)—1/8/14 in First Bank and Metropolitan Consortium (N350m)-1/8/14 in First Bank.
