Do you own barber shops or saloons? If so, you are sitting on a billions dollar global business. How much money you are making from the business depends on professionalism, location and innovation/ technology that you bring into the operation. According to a report by Alliance Market Research (AMR) titled ‘Men’s Personal Care Market: Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast: 2014-2022, market is expected to stand at $166 billion by 2022, growing at a cumulative average growth rate of 5.4 per cent from 2016 to 2022. In African, the market is expected to hit $13.2 billion in 2017 and stand at one-quarter of the global market figure by 2022. Of course, a large chunk of the African figure is predictably expected from Nigeria. Also, according to renowned market researcher, Cosmetics Design, although, many segments of the cosmetics industry are slowing down, the area of men’s grooming has continued to report strong sales growth. “Increasingly, the male grooming business in Africa is booming. Just the clipper segment of the market alone is currently valued at about 200 million with Nigeria accounting for a major share of it, selling 3.5 million units,” said the report. Also, Phillips, one of the manufacturers of clipper products, said that it recently conducted a study of 20 barber interviews, 20 consumer focus groups with 8 participants per group and 40 in-home interviews in SA, Nigeria and Ghana. excerpt from www.vanguardngr.com BBM: C002F2D0F

Here is a sample of apps that could be of interest to
health-conscious men. To find apps that interest you, search by keyword
in the iTunes store or at Google Play. Blood pressure. A variety of apps are available for
people with high blood pressure. These apps enable you to record your
pressure, either by entering the numbers manually or by attaching a
digital blood pressure cuff to the phone. Some apps include information
on lifestyle changes to control blood pressure. Physical activity. These apps use movement sensors
in smartphones to track walking, cycling, and running. Many fitness apps
offer suggested workout routines. The walking trackers (also called
pedometers) are especially helpful if you want to gently introduce more
exercise. A recent study evaluated 10 smartphone apps and wearable
devices and found that most of them accurately counted steps. Healthy eating. These apps enable you to document
and analyze what you eat and drink and assess calorie intake and
nutrition information. They can help you compare and choose foods, too.
Some apps can read the bar codes on food and drink products. Medication reminders. Digital medication reminder
apps tell you when to take your medications. This is especially helpful
if you are taking multiple medications at different times of the day. Diet and Weight Management Apps There is no
shortage of diet and weight management apps on the market. If you are
concerned with the food you put into your body, one or more of these
apps might be a useful tool to consult while grocery shopping, trying
out a new recipe or eating out. Fast Food Calorie Lookup is a great app
for anyone who wants to make healthy choices and monitor caloric intake
with fast food. This app has about 140 different restaurants in its
database and is constantly being updated. No food calorie app will have
all the eateries in your city, but most chain restaurants are listed in
Fast Food Calorie Lookup. Some seasonal specials might not be listed,
though. For people monitoring their points, the Ultimate Weight Watchers
Diary and Weight Watchers Calculator add up dietary points, exercise
points and points remaining in your daily intake. When you are grocery
shopping, WW ScanCalc will give you nutritional information based on a
barcode then relate it to Weight Waters points. Further, there are apps
with grocery lists and recipes for people on a diabetic or hypertensive
diet. Be careful to not just trust the apps for the information but be a
knowledgeable consumer, as some apps unintentionally misreport
nutritional information. Noteworthy Diet and Weight Management Apps: MyNetDiary, Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker
As
you might assume, using your smartphone with various apps can make for a
great training partner, give terrific workout ideas, provide valuable
dietary information, or even find you a new cooking recipe. There are a
few things you should note about using your smartphone for health and
fitness, though. Using your smartphone as your music player during
exercise can be enjoyable, but it can increase your risk of being
distracted. If you carry your smartphone while you exercise, use a
Ziploc plastic bag around the phone, so sweat won’t ruin it. Every
fitness app will be better if you take the time to set up the app
thoroughly. Finally, remember that smartphone technologies are wonderful
tools to enhance your fitness, but they can never replace a fitness
professional with years of accumulated experience, education and wisdom. Distance and GPS Apps
There are many apps for calculating distance that use a Global
Positioning System, or GPS. The basics of these apps are distance, time
and average pace, but some also estimate calories burned. Some of these
apps are simplistic, but most have features beyond what most of us need.
For Android phones, Endmondo Sports Tracker and iMapMyRUN are two apps
that store workout history with personal best performances, and they
also give you encouraging comments during your workout. Both link with
social networking sites like Facebook so you can share your workouts
with friends, and iMapMyRUN allows people to track their progress online
with real-time maps.
There are two common problems with these
types of GPS apps. First, satellite signals can be lost in wooded areas,
tunnels, or even when phones are stored in pockets, so you could get an
inaccurate data set for that workout. Second, a phone’s battery life is
used more quickly when the GPS is activated, which could be a problem
during extended workouts. Apple partnered with Nike to create an iPhone
app that uses a sensor placed in Nike+ shoes. The sensor synchronizes
with your iPhone or iPod, performing many of the same features as the
others, and works with compatible Nike+ cardio equipment at the local
gym. These apps will synchronize with music stored on your smart phone,
and they will even select music playlists for motivation. In addition to
the smartphone apps that detail distance, mapping programs like Google
Maps are wonderful if you are exploring new places while walking,
running, cycling or hiking. If you get lost along the way, maps and GPS
tools are helpful for getting you home safely. BBM: http://pin.bbm.com/C002F2D0F

Akure— A 16-year-old girl (names withheld) is allegedly carrying a seven-month-old pregnancy for her 56 years old father, Prophet Taiwo Oluboyode, in Odode, Idanre area of Ondo State.
Vanguard gathered that the suspect, who owns a white garment church and currently in police custody, allegedly informed his interrogators that he was tempted by the devil to commit the act.
Prophet Taiwo Oluboyode
However, people in the agrarian community, who spoke with Vanguard, are of the opinion that the cleric must have carried out the act “to renew his spiritual power.”
Findings in the town showed that the cleric is popular and his church, located at Oke-Ijebu Street, Odode, Idanre, always records high traffic of miracle-seeking worshippers from far and near on a regular basis.
Sources close to the church revealed that the prophet is a specialist in bathing women in streams to ward off evil spirits and those tormented by spiritual husbands, who prevent them from getting married or having babies.
Reports had it that the prophet lives alone with her daughter after the wife left him years back.
It was learned that efforts by the estranged wife to take her daughter along with her were rebuffed by the suspect, who insisted he needed her around to run errands and take care of him in the interim.
A family source hinted that the suspect had refused to remarry after the wife left and had preferred sleeping with his daughter instead.
It was unclear if the victim raised any alarm over her defilement by her father, but neighbours said that the girl was always keeping to herself.
Vanguard learned that the victim stopped going to school when signs that she is pregnant was becoming evident. Her school mates, who came to the house to ask after her, were informed by the father that she had travelled to Lagos to continue her studies.
It was gathered from police source that when the victim took in and informed the suspect, he allegedly gave her some concoctions to terminate the pregnancy. The attempt, it was learned, failed.
The suspect, according to a source, contemplated smuggling the victim out of the house to a private clinic, but she refused and threatened to raise alarm.
The suspect then instructed the victim to stay indoors to avoid suspicion from church members and their neighbours.
It was revealed that one of the neighbours, who saw the girl with a protruding stomach, raised the alarm. Police laid ambush and arrested the suspect when he returned home.
Detectives informed Vanguard that the only words uttered by the suspect was “it was temptation and the work of the devil.”
The church is presently under lock and key, ýwhile other leaders and members of the church have gone underground for fear of arrest.
Police spokesperson, Femi Joseph, promised to get the details from the DPO in Idanre, but had not done so at press time.
However, police detectives at Ala Police Station in Akure, confirmed that the cleric had been arrested and would soon be prosecuted.

The Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, has bemoaned refusal by high-profile public officers to surrender to assets verification exercise. It decried that though most of the public officers duly declared their assets as required by law, they however shy away from the second step which involves verification of such declared assets The Bureau made the disclosure while debunking a media report in which its Chairman, Mr. Sam Saba, who was quoted as ordering some Ministers, Governors, Service Chiefs and top government officials to declare their assets. In a statement by the Head of Press Unit at the CCB, Mr. Mohammed Idris, the Bureau, maintained that no order was issued against the afore mentioned category of public officials.
Akwangwa – Rev. Father Gabriel Ngbe of Akwangwa Catholic Church, in
Nasarawa State, on Sunday canvassed the need for Catholic Church to
incorporate some good aspects of African culture in its Doctrine and
that monogamy should be accepted in the Church because of those that
have only one wife.
The Catholic Priest made this known while celebrating Acculturation Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Akwanga.
Ngbe insisted that the Catholic doctrine most be amended, especially
in the African Catholic Churches in order to accommodate every member of
the Church.
“The Whiteman that brought Christianity to us mixed the religion with
his culture and Africans just accepted it like that at the expense of
our culture.
“If we did not incorporate parts of our culture into the way we
worship God, our culture would in no distant time go into extinction,”
he said. Lovers
Ngbe explained that local foods should henceforth be used for
communion in the Catholic Church instead of using products imported from
Europe.
The priest also said meaningful local names should be given to people
during Baptism and Confirmation in Catholic Churches as against using
“English names.”
Ngbe urged members to imbibe the habit of wearing local dresses during weddings as well as using local languages for Mass.
He said that anybody who practiced monogamy before accepting Christ
should be given equal treatment in the Church with those that have only
one wife.
“It is better to have many wives at home than to have only one and
yet have many girl friends and lovers outside,” the priest said.
Ngbe therefore commended the Yoruba people for incorporating their
culture in the way they practiced both Christianity and Islam and urged
others to emulate them.
Open Letter from Sergey Mavrodi to the Nigerian Authorities
Honorable authorities,
So far MMM has come under a constant attack from you. In this regard,
I would like to ask you a few simple questions. Since you are concerned
with the interests of millions of your fellow citizens, I hope that
you would be so kind to answer them.
1. What are you trying to get? Do you want the MMM System to collapse
and millions of people to suffer? Who will support them then if now MMM
is their only means of livelihood? Will you? You even don’t pay wages
to people? Or might you not care about them? Might you be using a trendy
topic to make a good name for yourselves? What will you say to a mother
who will have no money to buy food for her child? Will you let her
child die for the sake of the higher interests of the economy?
2. You say that MMM is a scam. What is the scam here, if all members
are warned in advance about all the risks, the possible and impossible
ones? They know there are no investments at all. The warning is a red
text on a yellow background placed on most prominent place of the
website.
3. You say that MMM is bad. Why? Yes, it produces nothing, but
nothing gets out of the country either. The money is just redistributed
among the citizens of Nigeria. It gets from those who are richer to
poorer ones, in this way restoring social justice. What''s wrong with
that?
4. You have repeatedly stated that "it should be investigated!..
researched!.." It means you know nothing about this System yet; you even
haven’t understood how it works. Isn’t it completely irresponsible of
you to make all these allegations and play with the lives of millions of
ordinary people?
5. And finally. If you know what is right for people, why is the life so bad in the country?
Sincerely yours,
Sergey Mavrodi
P.S. As for your statement that "everything will collapse soon". The
system has been working in Nigeria for a year, and according to your
estimates, the total number of members now is about 3 million people.
In Nigeria the population is approximately 195 million. Can you
calculate? Will it be “soon"? :-))

It quite unbelievable especially in this state of recession that a bag of rice would be sold for anything less than N25,000 but the Lagos State governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has promised to provide rice to Lagosians at N13,500 per bag in the coming weeks which he disclosed at the 2016 Agricultural Summit of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This is possible because of the contract he entered into with the Kebbi state government. Thus, xmas is going to come cheap for Lagosians this year!!!
